Dr. Maloney's Guidelines for Quality Care and Treatment

A few Important tips from Robert K. Maloney, MD of Los Angeles, CA

Dr. Maloney reminds us not to be fooled by fancy advertisements about a particular laser center. It's important that we choose the doctor and not the laser center. Finding out who will perform the actual procedure should be a priority along with finding out about that doctor's qualifications.

The doctor should have at least 5,000 LASIK surgeries under his belt. What a doctor doesn't know, can and will hurt you.

It's also important that you know the doctor's complication rates during surgery. Dr. Maloney stresses that if they don't tell you, it's time to find another doctor. Top surgeons have a 3 in 1,000 complication rate.
