Dr. Gonzalez is the president and founder of Capital Eye Physicians & Surgeons, L.L.C. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has a special interest and expertise in anterior segment, the latest techniques of cataract surgery and lens implantation. He is also one of the area's most experienced refractive surgeons, having performed a countless number of refractive procedures over the last ten years. Although he is experienced in almost all of the refractive techniques being used today including but not limited to: radial keratotomy (RK), anterior lamellar keratectomy (ALK), photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), he has opted to perform laser assisted in situkeratomileusis LASIK) almost exclusivley. In addition to being one of the first physicians in the area to use the Microkeratome, (the surgical instrument used to create the corneal flap), Dr. Gonzalez is constantly updating his techniques as new instrumentations continue to improve our results.

Dr. Gonzalez graduated from Loyola College, the University of Maryland School of Medicine and the Friedenwald Eye Institute. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), Society of Eye Surgeons (SES), American Medical Association (AMA), and The American Intra-Ocular Implant Society. He is also a former president of both the International Congress of Intraocular Lenses and the Providence Hospital Medical Dental Staff in Washington, DC.

Dr. Gonzalez has lectured extensively in Europe and both Central and South America. He has trained other doctors in techniques in refractive surgery & lens implantation. Furthermore, Dr. Gonzalez was so impressed with the technological advances in LASIK surgery that he had the procedure successfully performed on himself. Dr. Gonzalez has performed refractive surgery on patients from all walks of life such as: other physicians in the practice, other doctors, artists, musicians, lawyers, computer analysts, golfers, waitresses, truck drivers, etc.
